Call me old-fashioned, but I love Christmas in Roseland. The annual transformation of Shreveport’s American Rose Center—the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses—into a family destination for holiday entertainment is a tradition dating back 36 years. The 2019 edition of Christmas in Roseland runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now through Dec. 23.

Whether you’re a regular guest at Christmas in Roseland or you’re planning your family’s first visit, there are two things that you should do before heading out to the American Rose Center at 8877 Jefferson Paige Road in Shreveport.
First, consult the regularly updated schedule of performances and events that organizers share on the official Christmas in Roseland website. Most folks, I imagine, don’t do this. But checking the event calendar can mean the difference between visiting Christmas in Roseland on a relatively quiet night and catching them when they’re hosting an antique car show or a performance of The Nutcracker. The official Facebook event is also a good way to keep up with nightly events.
Second, drop by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau’s Downtown Visitor Center at 629 Spring Street and pick up a $5 Off a Carload coupon. Admission to Christmas in Roseland is normally $5 per person or $20 per carload, but with this coupon, your carload will only cost $15. We’ve got a stack of coupons at our front desk that are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Hours of operation at the Downtown Visitor Center are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
