Christmas has never been more lit in Shreveport-Bossier. As soon as the Thanksgiving table is cleared, there are families across the Ark-La-Tex screaming, “Alexa, play Christmas music in Shreveport-Bossier!” Christmas events in north Louisiana kicks off right after the turkey is roasted, and I’ve provided a playlist that corresponds with iconic holiday events in Caddo and Bossier Parish.

Actually, Santa Claus is coming to downtown Shreveport for two days to celebrate Christmas at Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival and Mudbug Market, Nov. 27-28.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED – Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival and Mudbug Market has expanded to a two-day event. The new and enhanced event will feature a spectacular firework show over the Red River and shopping at Riverview Hall in downtown Shreveport from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Families can enjoy food trucks parked outside and kid-friendly activities inside. You can road trip through eight Louisiana cities by driving the 2020 Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights.

Begin your Christmas road trip in Shreveport-Bossier at Christmas in Roseland at the American Rose Center, but you can explore the full route by traveling along I-20, east to west, and I-49, north to south, to experience holiday lights, parades, fireworks, shopping and many exciting events in eight of our most festive cities: Alexandria-Pineville, Minden, Monroe-West Monroe, Natchitoches and Shreveport-Bossier. What you really want is Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival, Dec. 5.

Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival will be held at Earl G. Williamson Park in Oil City on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. This festival celebrates the Christmas season with food, children’s activities, live music, and a fireworks show that lights up Caddo Lake, which is one of the most popular festivals along on the Boom or Bust Byway.
