Mardi Gras season is rolling through Shreveport-Bossier with a lineup of colorful parades filled with dazzling floats, marching groups, beads, and throws. From the Krewe of Sobek launching the celebration to the signature parades of Krewe of Centaur and Krewe of Gemini, each parade brings its own flair and festive tradition to the streets. Grab a spot, catch the throws, and celebrate Carnival as it parades through the Red River region.

Black-Owned Food Trucks

Several Black-owned food trucks can be found on the streets of Shreveport-Bossier. Louisiana Smoke House is ready to “meat you” on Jewella Avenue with fork-tender brisket and $20 slabs of ribs. Sho’ Nuff Soul Food & Catering has finger-licking fried and smothered pork chops and more. Food Network’s Great American Food Truck Race season 10 winners, NOLA Creations 504, can be found serving up New Orleans-style cuisine most weekdays in the parking lot of Drug Emporium. Candy Galore and More provides soups, sandwiches, and freshly baked goods for area neighborhoods.

Pro-tip: Hang out at Louisiana Daiquiri Café on Texas Avenue, where different food trucks are parked weekly.
