Two Title Fights | Star-Studded Guests | A Historic First for Shreveport
Shreveport, LA – American Kombat Alliance (AKA Fights), in partnership with Bishop Promotions, proudly announces a monumental night of professional boxing taking place on Friday, July 5, 2025, at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino in downtown Shreveport. The event will feature two championship bouts, including a WBC International Lightweight Title Fight, making it the first-ever event with two world championship boxing title bouts held in Shreveport.
This Independence Day weekend fight card is one of the most highly anticipated events in Louisiana boxing history — with national talent, local heroes, and world-renowned guests all coming together in one unforgettable night.
WBC International Lightweight Championship – 10 Rounds
“The Boss” Shamar Canal vs. “El Zurdo” Bryan Jimenez
Headlining the card is a WBC International title bout featuring Shamar Canal (11-0, 6 KOs), a fast-rising star signed to Devin Haney Promotions (DHP). At just 22, Canal boasts an impressive amateur pedigree:
- 7x New York State Champion
- Former USA National Youth Team member (101-20 record)
- Multiple-time World Youth Champion in Ireland, Serbia, and Spain
He faces Bryan Jimenez (17-1, 10 KOs), a hard-hitting southpaw from Nicaragua who’s ranked #2 in his country and riding a five-fight win streak.

Blake “Trouble” Franklin (Shreveport, LA) vs. Fredrick “General Okunka” Lawson (Accra, Ghana / Chicago, IL)
Shreveport native Blake Franklin is on a six fight win streak and returns to the spotlight as he battles seasoned veteran Fredrick Lawson for the NABA North American Welterweight Title. Lawson is a former three-time world title challenger. Franklin, owner and head coach of Trouble Boxing Gym, has held multiple titles including the WBF Intercontinental, WBF Americas, NABF America, and most recently, the UBO Continental Title.
