Shreveport-Bossier Mardi Gras is a celebration for everyone. The local restaurants add a Mardi Gras flare to their menu items. Shops bring out their most elaborate masks and colorful décor. Everyone can find their fun side in Louisiana’s largest family-friendly Mardi Gras festivities. Shreveport-Bossier intends to keep a safe, amicable Mardi Gras carnival without stripping away the excitement and joy. However, you don’t have to go home after the parade, take your family out on the town. Here’s a few options:
Youth (Age 0-8)
Sci-Port Discovery Center is every kid’s dream. This fun, educational environment includes opportunities for kids to gain a hands-on scientific experience. Sci-Port is located in downtown Shreveport, which is along the parade route of our two major Mardi Gras weekends.
Tweens (Age 9-14)
While you’re in town, take the young ones to Gators and Friends Adventure Park to experience speed racing, live alligator feedings and a petting zoo, as well as zip-lining if their up for a thrill. The park attendants will also let them hold a baby alligator. It’s a perfect touch to their Louisiana experience.
Teenagers (Age 15-19)
Teenagers can be a bit tricky to please, but they are sure to appreciate a Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey game. The players play ferociously and the crowd’s energy is electric. Mudbugs Mardi Gras Night is on Saturday, Feb. 8, but if you can’t make it, here’s the full schedule.
Young Adults (Age 20-30)
East Bank District and Plaza is the perfect location for millennials and generation Z to eat and drink, while hopping from location to location. This area has restaurants with patio seating and a brewery that serves craft pizza, as well as an axe throwing bar. After the major parades, this will be a popular spot to keep the party going.
Mature (Age 31 and up)
Shreveport-Bossier has seven casinos that house everything from slots machines and table games to night clubs and pool parties, as well as steakhouses and hotel rooms, and more. Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport and Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino are located in downtown Shreveport, which is on the route of the most popular Mardi Gras parades.
