Shreveport, Louisiana, August 28, 2024 — Sci-Port Discovery Center is proud to announce a generous $40,000 grant from the Community Foundation of North Louisiana. This funding will support the seamless implementation of the STEM education-to-employment work plan as part of the LaSTEM Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA). Sci-Port, selected as the host site for the Region 7 LaSTEM Innovation Center and for a second three-year CEA through a competitive application process, is dedicated to enhancing STEM literacy, promoting diversity and inclusion, and providing lifelong access to high-quality STEM education for Louisianans.
"The Community Foundation's support is vital to bridging the gap between our quarterly expenditures and the subsequent reimbursements for the LaSTEM CEA," said Heather Kleiner, Ph.D., Director, NWLA STEAM Innovation Center, Region 7. "This grant will help us continue to prepare the STEM workforce of the future and ensure that every individual has the opportunity to master essential STEM concepts and become digitally literate."
Sci-Port Discovery Center, located at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway on the downtown Shreveport Riverfront, invites the community to join in its mission. For more information about programs, IMAX® showings, field trip reservations, or event space rental, call (318) 424-3466 or visit sciport.org.
