Shreveport to Host Inaugural NCGA National Championships in 2025
Shreveport, LA — The National Collegiate Grappling Association (NCGA), in partnership with the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, proudly announces the 2025 Inaugural National Collegiate Grappling Championships, to be held at Louisiana State University, Shreveport (LSUS) on Saturday, November 15th 2025. Competition is set to begin at 10:00am
This landmark event marks the first time collegiate grapplers from across the nation will have the opportunity to compete for official All-America and Academic All-America honors in the rapidly growing sport of collegiate grappling. More than 20 colleges and universities are expected to participate in this historic championship weekend, bringing student-athletes, coaches, and fans together to celebrate the sport’s emergence on the national stage.
“We’re thrilled to launch the National Collegiate Grappling Championships in partnership with Shreveport,” said Jim Giunta, Executive Director of the NCGA. “This event not only creates new opportunities for student-athletes but also builds a foundation for collegiate grappling to grow nationwide.”
The Championships will feature both men’s and women’s divisions, as well as a Men’s Division II bracket designed for new and developing athletes. While Division II competitors will not be eligible for All-America recognition, the division offers an exciting entry point for beginners to experience collegiate grappling at the national level.
“We are honored that Shreveport was chosen to host this inaugural event,” said Sara Nelms, Director of Sports for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “The National Collegiate Grappling Championships represent exactly the kind of dynamic and competitive sporting events we’re proud to bring to our community — events that inspire athletes and attract visitors from across the country.”
The 2025 National Collegiate Grappling Championships promise to deliver high-level competition, community engagement, and a celebration of athletic excellence in a vibrant host city.
