  1. Did you know that Shreveport and New Orleans had Red Light Districts in the early 1900s that decriminalized prostitution? Learn more at the Spring Street Museum. Deal: Admission is always free.   2. Did you know that the Great Raft, a log jam blocking the Red River some 200 miles was broken up by Captain Henry Miller Shreve for whom the city is named for?   3. What do you know about the water you drink? You’ll learn a lot if you visit the Shreveport Water Works Museum. Deal: Admission is always free. In May, buy any souvenir from the museum’s gift shop and receive a free copy of the film “Clean Water” on DVD.
  4. Did you know there is a museum dedicated to some 19 cultures from all around the world, who now call Shreveport-Bossier home? The Multicultural Center of the South is housed in a two-story New Orleans-style Creole Townhouse building with wrought iron railings and showcases more than 2,000 artifacts. Deal: Free child admission with paid adult.
