American Rose Center
Did you know the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses is right here in Shreveport-Bossier? Just off I-20 going toward the Texas state line, you can find the sprawling 118-acre park, which features 20,000 rosebushes. The stunning flowers surround an open space full of sculptures, fountains, and companion plants—the perfect setting to relax and breathe in the fresh air. The park is open year-round, but the best time to visit is when the roses are in bloom in the spring.

Walter B. Jacobs Nature Center- (Outdoor Trails)
Explore 5 miles of walking trails at Walter B. Jacobs Nature Center. The trails are pet-friendly and best of all—completely free to enjoy!
If you have a few dollars to spare, the indoor exhibits at Walter B. Jacobs are also well worth viewing. The beloved Shreveport-Bossier destination recently underwent a full renovation and now features a one-of-a-kind nature facility with interactive galleries and live animal displays.

Morell Dairy Farm
A short drive from Shreveport-Bossier, in Mooringsport, you'll find Morell Dairy Farm—a quaint, family-run farm with deep roots in the community. Whether you've heard the name or not, you've almost certainly enjoyed their products if you've dined in the area. That's because many local favorites, including Rhino Coffee, Lowder Baking Company, and El Cabo Verde, use their dairy products.
The farm is open to visitors on select days of the week, giving guests the chance to explore the property. Arrive in the afternoon, and you might even get to watch the cows being milked! It's a great opportunity to learn where our food comes from and see farm animals up close. Visiting is free, but if you wish, you can purchase fresh milk, honey, and other local products from their on-site shop.

Did you know we have a National Historic Landmark right here in Shreveport-Bossier? Located inside the McNeill Street Pumping Station, the Shreveport Water Works Museum is home to the last known steam-powered municipal water treatment plant in the United States. It holds the rare distinction of being both a National Historic Landmark and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. Tour the museum, see the antique steam-powered equipment in action, and learn how water is purified.
