The Red River Revel Arts Festival returns to downtown Shreveport for its 45th year, Oct. 2-10. This iconic, family-friendly, nine-day festival is filled with food, arts and crafts vendors, live performances, and more. Their music lineup is stacked every day of the festival, so I’ve created a bucket list of bands and performances you must see and hear on each day of the festival:
1. Spinner Entertainment – Saturday, Oct. 2
If you’ve never experienced the quirky and comical talents of Spinner Entertainment, opening day of the Revel is your chance. Their performances are both artistic and entertaining. Watch stilt walkers, magicians, jugglers, dancers, and other variety performers peruse around the festival showcasing their quirky artforms. This is bucket list-worthy, for sure.
2. Hollow Decks – Sunday, Oct. 3
Known to play in various bars and events across Shreveport-Bossier, this premier 90’s cover band plays various genres from that decade, including alternative, rock, pop, dance and more. It’s not often that you can sift through hundreds of traditional and eclectic arts while rocking out to their playlist.
3. Everyone – Monday, Oct. 4
Honestly, I’d be thrilled to catch any live music, food, and festival fun on a Monday in downtown Shreveport. This level of entertainment is usually served on weekends, but the Revel plans to make our Monday a little less manic with the following bands: Blind Uncle Keith, Lyrical Valor, Hwy Lions, Hayden Bean, The Joanitones, and the Rockin’ Redeyes.
4. Josh Love – Tuesday, Oct. 5
You can often catch Josh Love serenading Shreveport-Bossier locals at local breweries and bars, but this is your one chance to indulge in fair-style foods while he strums to the beat of your heart with his guitar.
5. Schaefer Mueller – Wednesday, Oct. 6
Schaefer Mueller is Shreveport-Bossier’s musical sweetheart. With soothing vocals that blend with his small-town twang and Louisiana flare, you’ll want to witness his performance up close and personal.
6. Logan and the Legendaries – Thursday, Oct. 7
When this local five-member Indie rock band takes the stage, they’ll command your attention song after song. So, be sure to take your bathroom breaks and your children to the festival’s play areas because Logan and the Legendaries are bound to put you in a musical trance.
7. THE ULTIMATE BUCKET LIST ITEM – Friday, Oct. 8
The Revel is kicking up all the iconic party vibes on Friday, Oct. 8. Spend the day tapping your foot to Buddy Flett’s blues, dancing with Muzikology, gawking at aerialists of Aerial Expressions Shreveport, partying like it’s your birthday with Tipsey the Band, or shutting the festival down with a highly anticipated performances by renowned artists, Coolio and Rob Base.
8. DJ Phall – Saturday, Oct. 9
The Revel is an arts festival, so if you’re only there to peruse through arts and crafts, you’ll appreciate a DJ. You won’t have to stop in your tracks to watch live performances. You can bob your head to the DJ’s mixes without interrupting your stroll from vendor to vendor.
9. Soul Grooves – Sunday, Oct. 10
Soul Grooves knows how to turn your Sunday Funday into Sunday Soul Day. This R&B, Blues, Hip-Hop, and jazz band will end the Revel with a bang! If you can only make it to the festival on its final day, consider this band’s melodic, warm voices a farewell treat.
