If your best friend happens to have four legs and a tail, you’ll be happy to know that Shreveport-Bossier has plenty of pet-friendly places to explore. Keep reading to discover some of the area’s venues and attractions where your furry friend can tag along and join in on the fun!

Pet-Friendly Patios

KiMexicoPatio

Shreveport-Bossier is home to a diverse and delish dining scene—and it turns out your pets can enjoy it, too! Many local restaurants with patios welcome dogs as long as they are leashed and well-behaved. Ki Mexico and Flying Heart Brewing and Pub are just two great examples of pet-friendly spots where you can relax, savor mouthwatering bites, and enjoy some fresh air with your furry friend.

Serene Strolls

What dog doesn’t love a good walk? There are many great places to take your dog for some fresh air and exercise, but some locations stand above the rest when it comes to scenery, accessibility, and amenities. The Arthur Ray Teague Parkway Trail, which runs alongside the Red River in Bossier City, is a great option for a stroll. Its convenient location near the main road, along with covered pavilions and trash cans along the way, makes it easy to enjoy time outdoors with your pup. Just remember to bring waste bags and clean up after your pet!

A Day at the Park

What could be better than a day at the park? Bring your four-legged best friend along for some off-leash fun at the Shreveport Dog Park! Waste bags and water fountains are available throughout the park, and the fully fenced space lets your pup run, play, and make some new friends while you relax nearby.

Pet-Centric Festivals and Events

PetPalooza

No matter the time of year, you can often find a festival or event happening in Shreveport-Bossier—and several happen to be pet-focused! One example is the Super Retriever Series, where you can watch talented dogs compete in dock diving. The beloved event also includes the Pet Palooza, where you can dress your pet in their best costume, browse pet vendors, and compete for your pet to win categories such as “Best Dressed” and the “Pet and Owner Lookalike Contest.”

This year, Pet Palooza takes place on October 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Louisiana Boardwalk, so start planning those costumes and get ready to have a paw-some time!

Bossier City Farmers Market

As summer comes to a close, the Bossier City Farmers Market continues at the Pierre Bossier Mall parking lot through November. Browse vendors offering everything from handmade sourdough and jams to fresh produce, crafts, and more—and guess what? Your pet can come along, too! You’ll enjoy exploring the booths while your pup takes in all the new smells and enjoys plenty of attention from fellow shoppers.
