Flying Heart Brewing & Pub, the craft brewery and pizza joint located at the heart of Bossier City’s new East Bank District and Plaza, is joining forces with the Bossier Arts Council to host the Kegs & Corks Craft Beer and Wine Festival on Saturday, May 4, 1-9 p.m. The festival will feature more than 20 craft breweries, six regional wineries, live music, and food from BeauxJax Crafthouse, Bella Nonna’s, The Port Grill, Lowder Baking Company, Boom Boom Grill, and Earnestly Tootie’s Chef Services. General admission tickets (which include samples from all participating breweries, wineries and restaurants) are $45 and VIP tickets are $90.

One of the aspects of this festival that’s generating excitement is the involvement of the regional homebrewing community. More than 300 gallons of homebrew are expected, with participation from homebrewing collectives like the East Texas Brewers Build, Nac Brew Club and The Seventh Tap Brewing Project. Several new, regional craft breweries will also be pouring samples at the festival, including Huckleberry Brewing Company, of Alexandria, and Cane River Brewing, of Natchitoches.

Those are all good reasons to consider attending the first-ever Kegs & Corks Craft Beer and Wine Festival, but my top reason to check this festival out would be Flying Heart’s incredible new beer garden, which easily ranks among the most pleasant places to relax with a drink in Shreveport-Bossier.

If you attend the festival, please be smart and make use of Uber, Lyft or a taxi and don’t drink and drive.
