One of Shreveport-Bossier’s most cherished traditions is the Independence Bowl, where college football and Louisiana culture come together to create an unforgettable experience. Every December, fans from across the country come to our vibrant city to enjoy high-energy football, festive tailgating, and the unforgettable vibe of North Louisiana. Beyond the game there is a whole week of events and celebrations around Independence Stadium and the surrounding Shreveport-Bossier area.

Rally on the Red 

On Monday, December 29th from 6:30pm - 10pm, Rally on the Red brings the heart and excitement of Bowl Week to life with a vibrant Shreveport-Bossier flair.

 

Mardi Gras Preview Parade

Enjoy an early taste of Mardi Gras season on December 29th at 6:30pm. Join thousands of locals and fans as seven local Mardi Gras Krewes and two university bands march from the Louisiana Boardwalk all the way through the East Bank District, and end at the East Bank Plaza.

 

Battle of the Bands 

After catching your early Mardi Gras beads, stay and watch a friendly competition between the two university bands and spirit squads. Starting at 7:30pm, both bands will battle it out in the East Bank District. Make sure to be there to cheer on your favorite band and squad!

 

Fireworks Show

Following the Battle of the Bands, stay at the East Bank Theater, enjoy some delicious food and enjoy a dazzling firework show. The show will be held behind Hurricane Alley.

 

Free Parish County Line Concert

Finally, end the Rally on the Red right by dancing and vibing to the music of Parish County Line. This free concert begins at 8:00 pm at Hurricane Alley. Make sure you have those dance moves ready!

Coca-Cola Fan Fest

On December 30th from 9:30am - 12:30pm join friends and fans for a great time before the game. Local food, amazing music, that is sure to get you hyped for the big match, a Kids Zone, tons of community spirit, and much much more will definitely keep the party going. 

 

Tailgate Event 

Keep the pre-game celebrations going by enjoying the tailgating events right before the big game. Whether or not you want to celebrate with close friends or the whole community, there's always a way to enjoy the festivities with others before the big game.
