Kick Off The School Year With Some Fun!

Hey there, students! Welcome (or welcome back) to Shreveport-Bossier City! Whether you're an incoming freshman looking for fun things to do or a senior looking to get a break from all the studying, there's always something exciting to do around town. From late-night meals to outdoor activities or even some hidden gems, this is your guide for back-to-school fun.

Things To Do

Start the new school year with a little bit of summer and a big splash at Wonder Oasis Waterpark before the season ends. Whether you’re looking to relax and float with the waves or get your adrenaline pumping on one of their exciting water rides, Wonder Oasis Waterpark is the perfect spot for all ages. Bossier City's newest attraction, Chasing Aces, is a great spot for those looking for activity, food, and fun. In their own words, “This ain’t your average tee time. It’s where birdies come with burgers, the music’s always vibing, and the only rule is: swing like you mean it.” If friendly competition isn’t your style, try working together at Escape SBC. Work together, solve, and escape any of their uniquely designed rooms that will challenge your brain, but will be plenty of fun. For a more hands-on activity, create glass sculptures at Sanctuary Glass Studios. Perfect for a relaxing session with friends or a romantic date night with your significant other.

Eating on a Budget

We all know eating out at local restaurants is great for our taste buds, but not so great for our wallets. However, here are just a few places that taste delicious while also keeping our wallets happy. If you're looking for a place with excellent food, great music, and a great vibe, then the East Bank District is the place for you. From the live music at Hurricane Ally, to the amazing pizza at Flying Heart Brewing & Pub, even to the great burgers at Seventh Tap, the reverie and social atmosphere will keep your mood at an all-time high. Another great place for a night out with your friends or a date night with your college sweetheart is  Ki Mexico, where the people are great and the tacos are even better.

Peaceful Studies

Roommates being too loud? Are your friends distracting you from studying? Or do you just need a peaceful place off campus to be at peace while you work? Then here are some great places to consider for your next study session.

Rhino Coffee - Whether it's Downtown or in Southfield, the experience is still the same. Delicious coffee with a peaceful atmosphere where you can focus on your work and get it done twice as fast by sampling a variety of coffee flavors.

Tea Mochi - If tea is more your style, then Tea Mochi is the right place for you. From their diverse selections of Boba Teas and normal teas to their delicious tasting Korean Corndogs, this place is perfect for a snack, a sip, and a study session.

Shreve Memorial Library - Looking for real silence? Check out the Shreve Memorial Library. Get lost in research or your favorite non-fiction, surrounded by peace and quiet.

Carpenter Coffee House - A cute local coffee house that is perfect for small talk with friends or a productive studying session. Carpenter’s is a hidden gem with its cozy vibes and energizing coffee drinks.

Outdoor Fun

Red River National Wildlife Refuge: Explore picture-perfect trails, look for local wildlife, or unwind with a relaxing picnic by the water. It is the perfect place for nature enthusiasts and friend groups looking for a peaceful afternoon.

Clyde Fant Parkway: Enjoy a scenic drive, a peaceful jog, or a bike ride along Clyde Fant Parkway, a picturesque route that follows the Red River. Along the way, there are various parks and recreation areas for picnics, fishing, and more.

A.C. Steere Park: Whether you are chasing fun-filled adventure, wanting to serve the courts in playing tennis, or want relaxing family vibes, A.C. Steere Park is the best place for fun, accessibility, and community spirit.

Ford Park: Along the beautiful Cross Lake lies a hidden gem offering relaxation and outdoor fun. This park features two recreational battlefields, a tennis court for playing against or with friends, a peaceful walking trail full of life with life, and, for fishing enthusiasts, a fishing pier that extends over the lake.
