Mudbug Madness, which takes place on May 28-30, is a popular festival that celebrates Louisiana’s delicacy, crawfish. The festivities always take place during Memorial Day weekend, and it’s the gateway to summer fun in Shreveport-Bossier. Tickets are only $6 and can be used on any day of the festival. Organized in 1959, Mudbug Madness is a non-profit organization that brings joy, culture, and experiences to downtown Shreveport through food, entertainment, activities, discounts and more. Here’s why the organization has been around 62 years and offered 37 successful festivals.
Crawfish, Crawfish, Crawfish
Have crawfish your way at Mudbug Madness. You can have crawfish etouffee, crawfish and grits, crawfish pies, crawfish pistolettes, traditionally boiled crawfish and more. One year, they even had crawfish ice cream. There’s so much crawfish to indulge in at Mudbug Madness. Just don’t call it crayfish, and you’ll fit right in. Other fair-style foods will be available as well.

At Mudbug Madness, the live entertainment always gets the crowd on their feet. Here’s this year’s headliners:

Three Days of Family Fun
In addition to live music and great food, here’s a few things to look forward to at Mudbug Madness. On Friday, May 28, you can participate in the Mudbug Madness 5K and get free entry into the festival. Click here to register. On Saturday, May 29, you can compete in the men’s crawfish eating contest, watch bayou gypsies dance, and more. On Sunday, May 30, the women’s crawfish competition will take place, and it’s the final day to take in the ultimate crawfish experience.

Friday Happy Hour
Many locals are unaware of this, but Mudbug Madness offers a Friday happy hour that includes $3 drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Crawfish and beer is a culinary pairing that leads you straight into Louisiana paradise. Now, you can feed your Cajun spirit without breaking the bank. Thank me later.
